"It's an easy read," that's how a friend described Sarah Thornton's Seven Days in the Art World.

It was indeed easy to follow Thornton's footsteps as she ventured across the globe in an ethnographic study of the art world and it's main players.

You may find it hard to believe that an "ethnographic study" can be an easy read, but through each of the seven chapters of her book, Thornton describes the scenes, the people, the ambiance in such a way that allows her readers to imagine themselves walking by her side.

From auction houses to universities, from art magazines to artist studios to biennials, we are transported into the art world, where we discover the twists and turns of surviving in this industry. Whether it's an interview with an art critic or a university student aspiring to be an artist, readers will come to understand that the art world is a complex system, where appearances and money can often interfere in the evolution of art as a form of human expression, turning it into something that people can profit from.

"Seven days in the Art World" is an easy read as Thornton gives her readers an uncomplicated image of a complicated world.
